Here is the relevant part of the debug log. It happens when I connect
the ipod:

  Banshee sees iPod nano as read-only

Status in “banshee” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  For some reason, I can't seem to be able to add or remove files from
  my 1st generation ipod nano: banshee doesn't display the "delete"
  option, and complains about the ipod being mounted as read-only when I
  try to transfer a song on it. Here is the relevant line from mount:

  /dev/sdc2 on /media/ERASER type vfat
