for the record:

- Sound menu integration enabled by default (well almost: the option
should be off by default for a new user account, but should turn itself
on automatically when you first play something or add items to the music
library)

this is the default behaviour in latest release of Ubuntu Natty

- Banshee should be altered to comply with the standard behavior: it
should keep playing if closed while playing, it should exit if closed
while not playing, and it should restore location and other state on
relaunching.

some of those are already working in that way (at least with 1.9.1
release in Natty)

Title:
Default configuration (sound menu + panel)

Status in “banshee” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: banshee

Banshee ought to ship in Ubuntu with a standard configuration - see
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoundMenu#Banshee

  Important points:
  - No panel icon (both Application Indicator and Notification Area Icon should be disabled by default)
  - Sound menu integration enabled by default (well almost: the option should be off by default for a new user account, but should turn itself on automatically when you first play something or add items to the music library)
  - Banshee should be altered to comply with the standard behavior: it should keep playing if closed while playing, it should exit if closed while not playing, and it should restore location and other state on relaunching.
