Title:
gnome-subtitles corrupts file when saving in UTF-8

Status in Gnome Subtitles - Video subtitling for the GNOME desktop:
  Unknown
Status in “gnome-subtitles” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gnome-subtitles

1 - Open an UTF-8 encoded SRT sub file.
2 - Save a copy of this file. Choose UTF-8 encoding and whatever line end (Unix or Windows).
3 - Compare the hexdump of both input and output files. They would be different. gnome-subtitles would add 0xefbbbf (in little endian) at begginning of the output file.

The problem does not occur if ISO-8851-15 encoding is for instance chosen instead.

System details:

Description:	Ubuntu 8.10
Release:	8.10
gnome-subtitles:
  Installed: 0.7.2-1ubuntu1
  Candidate: 0.7.2-1ubuntu1
