Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Banshee
2. Play song
3. Pause song
4. Open VLC to play DVD
5. Video playback is jerky and freezes often - totally unacceptable
6. Close VLC
7. Close Banshee
8. Reopen VLC and play the same DVD
9. Enjoy perfect playback experience!

You can repeat this with another video player as well - same results.
Banshee is interfering with the video playback on the other program.

Title:
Banshee causes video play problems when song paused

Status in “banshee” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: banshee

When Banshee is open and a song is paused, and you open VLC or other
video player, the playback on video is jerky and freezes often. It is
caused by Banshee because it happens on ALL players and when Banshee
is closed down, the problems end. This makes video playback unusable
on Natty and is guaranteed to turn off new users.
