Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-desktop-sharp2
Recently some update changed the behaviour of gnome widgets, namely the gtkhtml widget, when it comes to copying links embedded in the displayed text. Formerly you could select "copy link location" and the link was copied both to the clipboard and to the X copybuffer. Recently, the link is copied only to the clipboard and the X copybuffer is left unmodified.
IMHO this behaviour is severely irritating as I (and probably a lot of
other users) routinely use MMB link pasting in Firefox and since this
change you always get unwanted results from that. The new policy forces
the user to click into the URL widget, mark all and then insert the URL
via Ctrl-V, which is several times more effort than just MMB-clicking
somewhere into the Firefox window.
All I want to know is whether this change in behaviour was an
unintentional glitch and can be fixed or was it part of some "make gnome
more painful to use"-strategy and must be swallowed as is?
** Affects: gnome-desktop-sharp2 (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
