After restarting the session the entry is gone. So this is a papercut.

  Binary package hint: banshee

  Short bug description:
  Klicking on the speaker symbol in the appindicator shows the status of banshee. After removing the banshee packet this status indicator becomes useless and I'd expect it to disappear.

  Details:
  Ubuntu version 11.04
  Banshee version 1.9.6-1ubuntu1

  What you expected to happen:
  Disappearance of the banshee entry in the soundmenu inside appindicator.

  What happened instead:
  The items are still there but without function.
