Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: openbve
This is probably going to be a similar issue to the fix deployed for bug
#503759 which was a Thai-based font advertising itself as matching for
the generic name "MS Sans Serif", which is what Mono/Winforms explicitly
requests.
Running any of the following (or similiar) allows full font coverage to
be rendered (simplest way is to look at the language selector in the
Openbve configuration page dropbox):
LANG=ja openbve
LANG=zh openbve
LANG=ko openbve
this is probably something to do with:
/etc/fonts/conf.avail/69-language-selector-??-??.conf
