Status in “banshee” package in Ubuntu: New

Bug description:
Binary package hint: banshee

Every time I try to play song with the file extension .oga (Vorbis audio only) Banshee 1.7.6 with 10.10 beta hangs. It starts playback, but after that the GUI freezes and it won't respond to anything. The playback will continue to the end of the track, unless I kill banshee, but it won't progress to the next item on the playlist.

But if I leave Banshee alone in the background with a playlist, it automatically skips these oga-files without playing them. So this hang happens only if I force it to play an oga-file by double-clicking on it. It won't play them willingly, which minimizes the number of hangs, but this is still annoying as I have quite a few albums with oga. And some of them are among my favourites.

After playback for oga-file starts, the slider, which normally shows progress within the track, track duration, cover art and other info becomes lifeless. The progress bar will not move, track info & cover art spots are blank and under the slider appears text saying 'idle', even though you can hear the song being played. If you change workspace after this hang and return back, Banshee's window will be all greyd out, but the title bar at the top will be displaying the name of the song being played -even hours after playback has ended.

Changing the file extension to .ogg won't fix the problem, Banshee still hangs.
