That sound great in theory, but nearly every program stores its config and data in .program-name. At least on my pc it looks like only rhythmbox, tomboy, totem and ubuntuone use .local/share
I've learned my lesson, but I'm sure many more users will lose data due
to this inconsistency.

Why are notes not located in .tomboy

Status in “tomboy” package in Ubuntu: Invalid
Bug description:
Binary package hint: tomboy
I recently did a fresh install and *thought* that I had made a backup of my notes, as I copied .tomboy which contained .note files. As I found out on my new install, notes are apparently kept at .local/share/tomboy, which means I have now lost 1.5 years worth of notes.
Needless to say, I'm less than happy, so I was wondering whether it would be a great idea to store all notes in .tomboy. I think that's a great idea, what do you think?
