Ariane, Please could you upgrade to 1.8.0 release (is included in Ubuntu
Maverick) and then try to run "banshee --debug" in a terminal.

Bug description:
Binary package hint: banshee

I use Ubuntu 10.10 and I use the 1.7.6-0ubuntu1 version of Banshee.
When I tried to open Banshee from the context menue it opened a blank window, which grayed out after some time.
I was only able to bring Banshee to halt with #kill.
