Status in “taglib-sharp” package in Ubuntu: New

Bug description:
I'm running 10.04. When I insert an audio disc into the optical drive, the "Audio Disc" icon appears on the desktop and CD Player (my default) opens, but says "No disc". Then I click Places > Computer (in the panel) and the Computer- File Browser dialog opens. Here the CD/DVD Drive: Audio Disc label with its icon is shown. Double-clicking this results in a listing of all the tracks on the CD.

When I click on CD/DVD Drive in the Disc Utility dialog, the specs for the drive are listed:
Model: ATAPI DVD-ROM 16x
Firmware: TANE
Location: Port 2 of PATA Host Adapter
Capacity: 703MB
Device: /dev/sr0
Connection: SCSI
Smart Status: Not supported
List volumes: Unknown 703MB

All other CD players/rippers tried also fail to show the CD's tracks and to play the CD. These are Rhythmbox, Sound Juicer, Asunder, Audex, Banshee, and Ripper X.

Puppy Linux 5.0 with its CD player shows all the tracks, plays them and rips them. So, presumably the problem is not within the hardware as such.

When I initially tried to play an audio CD, something different happened from the above. After the Audio Disc icon appeared when the CD was inserted, a dialog appeared with the following message: "Unable to mount location. DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus Error. No Reply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply time out expired, or the network connection was broken".

Before installing 10.04 on my desktop, I was running 9.04. Then, inserting an audio CD did not even show the Audio Disc icon on the desktop.

But then as now, ISO images run well as do data CDs.

My Kernel is 2.6.32-22-generic

Any fix would be appreciated.

David Haas
