I've got version 1.6 and I also have sorting field problems, though
slightly different (setting the sort field for all tracks in a
particular album actually set the sort field to the same value for all
the tracks in my library, now that sort field cannot be changed or
deleted for any track)...should I file a separate bug, or is there a way
I can manually upgrade to 1.7.1 so that at least the sort fields can
fail to retain the wrong information?

Binary package hint: banshee

Information saved to the new sort fields (e.g. Sort Artist, Sort Album Artist) is not retained after I shut down banshee. I'm using v. 1.5.0.0. 

Saving appears to be working correctly, but on restart, all sort fields are blank.
