Public bug reported:

This was reported upstream (see Debian bug) and fixed at version
0.5.3-3.1ubuntu1 for Intrepid, but the patch was not applied upstream.
The same bug occurs again in version 0.5.3-3.2, hence FTBFS in Lucid:
