That's not what I said. The "Open with" dialog is only really useful as
a catch-all if a buggy application doesn't identify itself as supporting
a particular mimetype. It already lists every launchable desktop file.
All handlers for a particular mimetype should be listed in the "Open
with->" submenu, and there will be only a single entry for each
application.
With the audio CD case, right clicking on the CD icon should show "Open
with Banshee" in the "Open with->" submenu. Because the particular
mimetype will only appear in one of Banshee's desktop files, then only
one entry will appear here. This is correct already - all the user cares
about here is opening their audio CD with Banshee.
What you're proposing is renaming the desktop files for every single
application to make each separate action identifiable in the "open with"
dialog box. So, in the audio CD case, I would end up with right-clicking
on the CD icon, and navigating to "Open with -> Open with Banshee (Play
audio CD)". That is plain wrong IMO.
If you're having to navigate to the "Open with" dialog on a frequent
basis, then the application that you're using is broken, and should be
fixed to add the additional supported mimetypes to its desktop file.
