I have applied the patch, built a new package, and uploaded it to my PPA.  For anyone who would like to test the fix, my PPA is here:

It should be available in 30 minutes or so as of:  Wed, 15 Apr 2009

The build worked on my machine: 2.6.28-11-generic #41-Ubuntu SMP Wed Apr
