Okay, I'm finally looking into the remaining sync issues and anybody
experiencing problems should watch this upstream bug:

Preliminary investigation shows that lock files are not being handled
correctly at all.  Thanks for all of your reports and help, Ubuntu
folks.  I apologize for the many delays.
