Binary package hint: gnome

Loaded Kubuntu 8.04.1 from CDROM - loaded updates - everything worked!

Loaded Ubuntu Firefox - did not work
- start from GUI > some hard drive activity then nothing
- start from terminal > "bus error"
Loaded Aisleriot (gnome-games) - did not work
- Start at GUI > only - border shows - nothing inside the border - not populated
Loaded Blackjack - did not work
- Start at GUI > only - border shows - nothing inside the border - not populated
Downloaded Firefox 3.0.2 from Mozilla - did not work
- Start from GUI > some hard drive activity then nothing
- Start from terminal > "bus error"
- Start gThumb from GUI - border shows - nothing inside the border - not populated
- Start gthumb from terminal > mousepointer freezes on newline

- Start Fspot from GUI > Error "An unhandled exception was thrown: F-Spot cannot find the Dbus session bus. Make sure dbus is configured properly or start a new session for f-spot using "dbus-launch f-spot"
- dbus started at boot and running

Sounds almost like a Xulrunner 1.9.??? problem but other things are
happening - using Xulrunner 1.9.0.1. I do not have Keytouch installed.

All KDE stuff works just fine

Using 3.5.10 - current files

p.s. I tried to load Kubuntu 8.04.1 with gnome apps on another computer.
It took me more than 5 installs to get everything working. The failures
included Xulrunner, Network Manager, and KeyTouch. This is the most
troublesome install of Kubuntu that I have ever run into. This install
onto my wife's computer is trouble also!

** Affects: f-spot (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
