I have the same problem.
When i tried to get a backtrace i was faced to the following problem:

 gdb f-spot 2>&1 | tee gdb-f-spot.txt

did not work, since: "/usr/bin/f-spot": not in executable format: File
format not recognized

 gdb mono /usr/lib/f-spot/f-spot.exe 2>&1 | tee gdb-f-spot.txt

did not work, error message was:

(no debugging symbols found)
Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/i686/cmov/libthread_db.so.1".

warning: core file may not match specified executable file.

warning: Couldn't find general-purpose registers in core file.

i thought this is because i have to install mono-dbgsym but this package does not exists, so how to get the backtrace?
