I can confirm this with current Hardy but it is possible to kill F-Spot with alt + tab and then close it with force quit. I can see only parts of images after a long loading time and I never see the control bar.
I have a Nvidia Geforce 440 Go with the proprietary driver.
Standard full screen mode works fine but if I start slide show with the play button the same happens.
