This looks similar to what I have.

Starting from the menu, F-Spot hangs and cpu runs full.
The second time I started it I Got the following error while a dulled f-spot window shows:

È stata lanciata un'eccezione non gestita:
System.NullReferenceException: A null value was found where an object
instance was required.

So I went to my other machine (desktop - here I'm on my laptop) and
tried the first run there, too. All was well.

I came back here on the laptop and tried again from terminal. Terminal
fills up with failed attempts to get a connection to dbus.

I added a new user and tried again there: all went well.

Going back to the previous user I did a restart just in case... no
better.

I've been updating 7.10 since tribe 4 and everything else seems fine so far. The only strange bit is that this morning I installed RealPlayer following this document:
http://wiki.ubuntu-it.org/RealPlayer/Amd64
All went fine, but I've noticed that it installed ia32-libs-kde and changed ia32-libs-gtk to ia32-libs. Now I don't thin this is relevant to the case. I just thought I 'd better mention it.
