Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tomboy

First, tomboy does not show up by default in any menus, making it hard
to find. When I run it using terminal or Alt-F2, it doesn't show an
icon in the tray, although there's about a pixel-wide space that I can
click to see the menu. I get this output when I run it:

Trying Plugin: Evolution.dll ... EvolutionPlugin. Done.
Trying Plugin: ExportToHTML.dll ... ExportToHTMLPlugin. Done.
Trying Plugin: PrintNotes.dll ... PrintPlugin. Done.
Trying Plugin: StickyNoteImport.dll ... StickyNoteImporter. Done.
Tomboy remote control disabled: Name 'com.beatniksoftware.Tomboy' does not exist.

I try to create a new note from the command line and I get this error:

Unhandled Exception: System.ApplicationException: Name 'com.beatniksoftware.Tomboy' does not exist.
  at DBus.Service.Get (DBus.Connection connection, System.String name) [0x00000]
  at Tomboy.RemoteControlProxy.GetInstance () [0x00000]
  at Tomboy.TomboyCommandLine.Execute () [0x00000]
  at Tomboy.Tomboy.Main (System.String[] args) [0x00000]

I thought the whole program was broken but then I found the shortcut
key, Alt-F12, which does in fact bring up the menu right below the
panel, although there is still no icon, so there's no graphical or
command-line way to interact with tomboy.

I have the same problem on an Intel laptop and on a brand new amd64
desktop install.

** Affects: tomboy (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
