I found out what the problem was.

Actually, the problem is that there is a major monodevelop update in
edgy (-> 0.12), but the update doesn't seem to delete the old plugins,
and the old XML plugin doesn't get deleted nor overwritten. Thus causing
the crash.

Solution : Delete the XML plugin manually.

The problem will affect everybody with the XML plugin installed who
updates from dapper to edgy.
