Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: beagle

beagled spins up the disk every 30 seconds or so when in laptop mode,
even when the computer is inactive. This clearly has implications for
battery life.

To view this, entry laptop mode, then:

sudo /etc/init.d/sysklogd stop
sudo -s
echo 1 > /proc/sys/vm/block_dump

now do nothing and wait for disk to spin down ... still do nothing ...
30 seconds later, disk spins up again.

dmesg

lots of stuff, but you will see beagled writing to FileAttributeStore.db
causing disk to spin up.

** Affects: beagle (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
