Tested the Colin's debdiff and it works well for me, for instance:

ago at ago-laptop/%sudo mount -t ntfs /dev/sda2 /mnt
ago at ago-laptop/%rm /mnt/ubuntu-8.04-desktop-i386.iso && time cp -f /home/vm/cd/ubuntu-8.04-desktop-i386.iso /mnt
cp -f /home/vm/cd/ubuntu-8.04-desktop-i386.iso /mnt  0.05s user 2.16s system 5% cpu 41.809 total
ago at ago-laptop/%sudo umount /mnt
ago at ago-laptop/%sudo mount -t ntfs /dev/sda2 /mnt -o syncio                
Mounting with synchronous I/O
ago at ago-laptop/%rm /mnt/ubuntu-8.04-desktop-i386.iso && time cp -f /home/vm/cd/ubuntu-8.04-desktop-i386.iso /mnt
cp -f /home/vm/cd/ubuntu-8.04-desktop-i386.iso /mnt  0.07s user 1.99s system 5% cpu 36.736 total
