Hello Linuxers,
some days back an email was generated by Server Specialist from OSRC
to start a project to localize the Open Office suite in urdu so here
is what i have got to say
Open Office has already been localized into Urdu by Indian body CDAC
and is available internationally through Ubuntu distributions when
Urdu Support is enabled in Ubuntu. Duplication efforts will only
result in waste of energy and resources thus, more distros of Linux
should be localized including software like Firefox
here are the reference links
http://www.cdacbangalore.in/bharateeyaoo ( for urdu font )
http://lists.apdip.net/pipermail/foss-pdi/2006-April/000427.html ( of
open office urdu plugin )
so the interested bodies should see these links .. and see what they
can come up with
so my point here is to start localizing Ubuntu as the process is very
easy through rossetta ( an application to make Poratable object for
languages ) that can be found on www.launchpad.net
Regards

Linux *is* user friendly. It's just selective about who its friends are.
In a world without walls and fences, who needs windows and Gates ?
