Adaab
Go to
/etc/X11/xkb/symbols
find file named as "pk" edit it with root privileges and replace the whole code from your desired keyboard layout...
save file and get it activated from appropriate place in Gnome or KDE which ever you are using...
enjoy..:)

Subject: [Ubuntu Urdu] Urdu keyboard problem

Salam all

I am trying to follow this link http://www.urduweb.org/wiki/UbuntuLinux to install crulp urdu keyboard in my ubuntu 6.06. In the second step which says
2. Copy this file to both /etc/X11/xkb/symbols and /etc/X11/xkb/symbols/pc folders.

/etc/X11/xkb/symbols/pc is not a folder but a file. I over wrote the pc file with the "ur" keyboard file. Now ubuntu gives me error everytime it starts.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,
Babar
