Tirumurthy,
I agree with all the responses mugunth has given and reiterate them.
The IRC discussion is at 10.00 UTC (15.30 IST), which should be ok considering majority of the members are in the indian time zone. Tomorrow's discussion may not be final, but with due respect to all members who cannot make it to the discussion we will represent their viewpoints too which they have reflected in the email.
Ravi

Dear Tirumurti,

ravi,
with all due respects i feel what you are doing is wrong.
I dont think so. Since Ravi/Mauran's (also mine) concerns are not addressed here they have every right to take it further to higher level.
This not new in opensource community. I am involved with OpenOffice.org community closely, we had such issues with the ownership of some language projects(Hindi and also telugu i guess) and they were escalated and discussed 110n group mailing lists and resolution reached.
This the way open source community works. Openness & respecting others sentiments are very important to keep the community together.
you are acting with presumptions as to how you would like an organisation to function.
there is no indication that this is such an organisation.
unless you are able to verify what ubuntu's stance on how the organisation is setup there is no point in any such exercise.
as i understand the setup whether i like it or not ramadoss has been appointed the administrator and it is his responsibility how to run the setup.
Its more appropriate to say that Mr.Ramadoss has volunteered to take up this responsibility. Also he cannot do as he pleases in an opensource community effort.
In open source world, those who make mistake cannot escape sharp [some times very sharp :) ] criticism. Best thing for Ramadoss to do now, is to apologize and correct the mistake and move on with more energy and support with fellow team members...
you are announcing a debate for which there is no assurance that everyone are in a position to participate.
also whether such a call could be valid. you are free to call and discuss to get stands clarified but one can not accept whatever comes out of it as majority opinion or conclusion of a healthy discussion.
Since its a ubuntu community effort and Mr.Ravi has rightly taken the issue to the appropriate ubunutu community. So its perfectly valid.
anyway i almost always go to bed by nine and wont be participating in that discussion.
but you know my stance in this matter.
I am right, the time of call is 10:00 UTC ==> 3:30 PM Chennai Time on Tuesday ,
i.e. tomorrow afternoon (Ravi, please confirm if this time is ok)

this is not a hindu symbol in my opinion and i cant help it if people think otherwise.
i see no need for changing. i am not for a "democratic" setup but support a firm benevolent leadership with members with understanding contributing. if in future
i dont like the setup i will leave without creating confusion among people.
that is my stance.
Vasu, Yes, as per you its not Hindu symbol thats perfectly OK. Every one has their opinions, I support that.
But we should take into consideration there are others who find it objectionable.
So we as considerate free software volunteers should have courtesy to remove the objectionable symbol without so much justification for not removing it.
Unfortunately or fortunately, I am strong supporter of democracy :)

Mugunth
