"Trash can" and "Garbage disposal" are both rather American to my ears. Bin
is the word I would naturally use, but I agree that it's a bit ambiguous.
Could we perhaps get away with the ambiguity if every time we use the word
in this context, there is a nearby icon of a bin?
Another point to note is the length of the word--using kontact, the button
that I assume originally said "Move to Trash" now says "Move to Deleted
Items" and is about twice the width of a normal toolbar button.
