I've used a few in the past, you've got the basic tools that can parse po  
files: kbabel, gtranslator and poedit. I'm currently using poedit and find  
it acceptable, but a bit buggy (though I found the same with gtranslator).

There's also the option of using a text editor (e.g. vim or gedit), though  
I wouldn't advise it, unless there's only a couple of strings to translate.
