Training and rules for professions such as these tend to differ throughout the 
world, but their basic functions are identical.

Take a look at these Wikipedia articles:

  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anesthetist
  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nurse_anesthetist

It shows that in Australia/New Zealand, the UK and the USA, 
anaesthetists/anesthesiologists are doctors. As their name would 
suggest, 'nurse anesthetists' are clearly not doctors.

The fact remains that 'anesthesiologist' is a foreign word outside of the USA, 
and I believe that 'anaesthetist' is an acceptable analogue.

As an translation project, we should be prepared to handle any word. That is 
why we are building a translation table.
