I personally live in the county of Cornwall and am always irritated by
"state/province". We should have "county" for GB and let everyone else
decide for themselves...
The only city on Great Britain which a county is not needed is London, which
is a county all its own in some ways. Birmingham, for instance, is
"Birmingham, West Midlands, <postcode>" as opposed to just "Birmingham
<postcode>" although the Royal Mail is rather permissive in allowing people
to omit counties for largest settlements.
