There are 3 possibilities:-<br>
<br>
1. apt-get system is messed up in which case running the command "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade" should sort you out.<br>
<br>
2. There are canonical commercial repositiories mentioned in your sources list which for some reason cannot be used. You can comment them and see if this helps<br>
<br>
3. There is a proxy server between you and the ubuntu repos that is acting up. You can try running the commands on a direct link.<br>

Hope you are well, I have been having a few issues with my ubuntu server, I<br>
am unable to install any packages when I run<br>
# sudo apt-get update<br>
it presents me with the following error:<br>
E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones<br>
used instead.<br>
I tried<br>
# sudo apt-get clean<br>
then<br>
# sudo apt-get update and get the same error<br>
I also get a dpkg error before when try and onstall an application:<br>
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)<br>
I run<br>
# sudo sed -i '1 s/sh -e/sh/' /var/lib/dpkg/info/locales.postinst<br>
and its still does not run, I have even tried:<br>
# sudo apt-get -f install<br>
# sudo apt-get -f update<br>
# sudo apt-get -f upgrade<br>
and nothing<br>
# sudo apt-get install --fix-missing<br>
# sudo apt-get update --fix-missing<br>
# sudo apt-get upgrade --fix-missing<br>
