K/Ubuntu 11.04 on laptop

Hi,

Whats your experience with Ubuntu/Kubuntu 11.04 on your laptops? 
Attempts to have it running on my laptop were futile in my case on a HP 
G42-415DX laptop having tried both an upgrade from Kubuntu 10.10 and a 
clean install.

Canonical is alleged to have included an open source driver for 
proprietary broadcom wireless cards (lib80211) to replace the 
proprietary broadcom-sta-common  which keeps making the kernel to 
freeze. Without a mechanism to disable the card from the bios and 
blacklisting the module, installing seems like a nightmare that never 
goes away.
