Ubuntu Issues need help

Hope this reply is not too late.
There are 3 possibilities:-
1. apt-get system is messed up in which case running the command "sudo
apt-get dist-upgrade" should sort you out.
2. There are canonical commercial repositiories mentioned in your
sources list which for some reason cannot be used. You can comment them
and see if this helps
3. There is a proxy server between you and the ubuntu repos that is
acting up. You can try running the commands on a direct link.
