[ubuntu-it] ant e versione beta di un tar.gz

Ciao
Devo usare questa beta di  freemind-src-1.0.0_Beta_7.tar.gz e dal file 
readme apprendo che non posso usare il modo più diffuso d'installare 
tar.gz cioè ./configure e seguenti...............

To build FreeMind from the sources you need ant from
http://ant.apache.org/

After having installed ant, try some of the instructions:

ant dist
     - to compile the sources
ant post
     - to create a new delivery version
ant run
     - to start FreeMind from the sources.

Mi dice di installare ant e provare i seguenti comandi
lucio a lucio-N61PA-M2S:~/freemind$ ant dist
Buildfile: /home/lucio/freemind/build.xml

BUILD FAILED

Come vedete tutto inutile.
C'è qualcuno che sappia indicarmi come procedere ?
In quel programma ho molti dati importanti che nella corrente release 
0.9.0 non posso consultare per un problema già avuto, anche da altri

La soluzione della beta mi sembra la migliore, ma se non riesco ad 
avviarla ?
Cosa poso fare ?
