in questi casi puoi anche usare dpkg senza scomodare updatedb:

$ dpkg -L gocr-gtk | grep 'bin'

dpkg -L <pkg>:  che lista tutti i pacchetti contenuti nel deb
grep 'bin': che filtra la ricerca, cercando solo le righe contenenti bin
