Step6: Aggiornamento driver ATI svga
Ho aggiornato i driver della svga, prelevando e installando il file
ati-driver-installer-8.23.7-i386.run dal sito www.ati.com, seguendo le
istruzioni!
Dopo aver dato il comando
# --aticonfig --initial
(n.b. il comando fglrxconfig risponde con un bel 'command not found')
e aver riavviato, ho dovuto da BIOS aggiungere della ram alla svga
(UMA+Sideport), prelevandola da quella di sistema!
Solo assegnando alla svga 128+128 Mb (e restando quindi con 384 Mb di
sistema) sono riuscito a startare X!
Senza questa modifica dal BIOS, ottenevo uno schero nero dopo startx,
e blocco totale del nb!
Le prestazioni ancora non erano all'altezza, quindi ho dovuto
aggiungere nel file /etc/fstab questa stringa:
# tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
cioč 'POSIX shared memory' attivata e montata tramite # mount tmpfs.
Devo attivare il modulo 'flgrx' al boot e per far questo uso: #
modeprobe fglrx (per abilitarlo).
aggiungo /sbin/modprobe fglrx in /etc/rc.d/rc.modules (per renderlo perenne).
Nei moduli all'avvio (controllare con # lsmod) devono esserci:

agpgart
