Premesso che non ho una scheda ATI ne' una cpu 64bit quindi non posso 
che andare a tentoni:

hai installato questi 4?

Se il modulo del kernel e' installato e funzionante, il problema 
indubbiamente sara' nella parte GLX/DRI; in /var/log/Xorg.0.log c'e' 
qualcosa di utile?
