I think he means it's a trunk port carrying more than one vlan using 802.1q

I haven't tried it, but you should be able to hit alt-f2 during the 
installer, type "modprobe 8021q" and manually configure an interface 
from the shell.  If you have problems with this I can assist on or off-list
