wubi adn NO acpi support

Wubi does not perform any check related to acpi, but when you reboot,
if you press ESC after selecting "Ubuntu", thus activating the grub
menu, you will have an option to boot without acpi. I did receive a
fair amount of tickets about acpi boot failures, but I cannot recall
any case where the OS was compromised because of that. IIRC most boot
failures due to acpi will happen before the filesystems are mounted.
