What Metapackages does a standard Xubuntu Install have ?

Most likely you want to do something like
tasksel tasksel/first multiselect ubuntu-standard, xubuntu-desktop
In your preseed. ubuntu-standard includes things like wget, ftp, tcpdump, etc- things that aren't necessary for a minimal system, but are certainly nice to have.
http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/ubuntu-standard
The other big one is ubuntu-minimal, but I think that is nearly guaranteed to be installed.

wget is not a standard package all the time. I've had to apt-get it on some freshly installed *buntu systems. Telnet, too. However, cron, at, and ed are more fundamental.
