Hi James

I was frustrated with HP and decided to get a low cost Samsung laser printer

Got the Samsung ML 1676, its a sub 4.5 k

It has been , surprisingly good, the Samsung driver is effective

Have had no issues with it and in future would recommend Samsung printers
that are rated as linux compatible

This printer has a few features that are better than HP's , specifically
its ability to continue printing without manual intervention after paper is
re fed

Its does seem to have a larger electrical requirement (which may be a laser
printer issue, but it also comed with a 16 amp 3 pin rather than a 5 amp
Plug - but this is easily changed)

Its physical footprint is quite small and goid for small desks or offices,
and almost portable

On a phone so cannot send more specifics but would definitely recommend
looking at Samsung

I know HP is well suported in almost all versions of Ubuntu. But a quick
look at best sellers list in Laser printers, Ido not see many HP printers.

Does any one know if Ricoh SP 111 or Brother HL-1111 or Samsung ML-2161 or
similar sub 5K or 6 K models working fine with Ubuntu 14.04 and 16.04 out
of the box. That way, I can ensure reasonable Ubuntu support for
LTSversions without too much of troubleshooting and command line activities.

Regards,
James
