Hi

Good wishes for a happy, fun filled and peaceful new year, 2012, to fellow
open "sourcerers"

Questions

Have been very interested in ERP (enterprise resource planning) solutions
for small organizations that do multiple things. A kind of one stop
solution to some of the neccessary admin related work that small
organizations with low staffing need to do.

Some come integrated with POS (point of sales ) software and other with a
range of asset management, financial accounting options etc

So over the past few days have been attemtping to setup the various ERP
solutions offered in the repos. namely openerp, openbravo and
frontaccounting.

But have not been able to get any to work, tried reading the instal
instructions but the documentation does not seem good enough to help.

Seems like the problem is either with the database (mysql or postgresql )
and / or with the web server (Apache or lighttpd) , i get error messages
saying that either no Database is setup or could not connect to the
webserver at the local host.

for openbravo - which is supposed to open up in a browser interface the
error is
"http://localhost/openbravo" 404 - Host not found

for openerp
"could not connect to server "

Frontaccounting refused to install as there was an issue with lighttpd

Since then have not been able to progress further.

As an interim measure i tried lemon POS - and again i get a database error

**
So my question is does any one have any experience with ERP installation or
POS installation (open source and free software )

If so would be glad to receive any advice.

thanks and regards
