thanks that was quite  useful. i was in nehruplace today in delhi,
and pleasantly surprised how many different brands of laptops
offer "lie-nux" or "freeDOS" pre-installed. i would specifically ask
for "ubuntu" and helpful salespeople would immediately point  me to one.

you got a good deal on the dell.
i got quoted Rs 29,500 for the same thing in nehruplace,
which is steep even if you account for the 4GB i wanted in it.
