Hi

have been trying to figure out how to record a live video stream on Ubuntu.

Examples of some sites are
http://live.indiatimes.com/

http://www.ndtv.com/video/live/channel/ndtv24x7

seems like mplayer and vlc can do the job but the latter requires
defining a capture card and am not sure the former really does the job
required when the url is encoded (as in the examples

mplayer is cli , based, not a bad thing but having access to a gui
interface would also be nice

**
googled and found this
http://code.google.com/p/freetuxtv/wiki/HomePage?wl=en

and on request they tried to add the links but unfortunately it won't
work unless the source can be determined.

Am try recordmydesktop, which does the job, but am unable to get sound

any ideas would be welcome

thanks
ram
