How long you have been using Linux ?

To start with Linux programming you will have to have a good understanding
how things are working in Linux.
Also you must be familiar with Linux commands and shell scripting. Yes, I
think you can start with learning shell scripting .It will help you to a
great extend. Python is another easy to learn, of course, a powerful
language to start with.
