I shall make the change very soon based on the insight provided by everyone
here
But i would again like to clear my stand :
The event is for not just those who are already using FOSS tools but for
those as wells who are just beginners in this field. Many college students
(for whom this event is aimed at ) have used a variety of open source
browsers but most have not ventured into Open Standards and hence tools like
OpenOffice. Hence, I had thought that a *.doc file would reach more people.
But as suggested by most here, the use of close standards doesn't put
forward the correct aim of the event, and hence I shall provide a link to
download it some format like ODT.
Thank you for all the suggestion and arguments .
