Hi
I have been a linux user for the past 4-5 years on my desktop and have been
using ubuntu since Jaunty.
Since then as well as now, the display that i get is 800X600 which I have to
manually change to 1024X768 EVERY time I login. With Jaunty I had edited the
Xorg.conf file to set the resolution at 1024X768. However i am unsure that
it will work in Karmic.
Now I would appreciate your answers to a few Q's:
How to permanently change the resolution to 1024X768. Will editing Xorg.conf
work, If so how. Despite using Linux for the past 5 years i am not a command
line geek, but can work if given clear instructions. I am most comfortable
with a GUI.
Is Lucid too likely have a similar display issue.
Note: I have a AMD Athlon X2 3600 64 bit Processor on a Gigabyte MB with
Nvidia GeForce 6100 GPU and 2GM RAM on a Samsung SyncMaster CRT monitor and
use Ubuntu x86_64 without any modifications or theme changes and without
desktop effects enabled. The system also has Restricted Nvidia Hardware
driver 185 installed and enabled.
Thanks in advance and Regards
