Start the display configuration tool from System -> Preferences ->
Display and tell us what configurations do you see there.
1. Do you see two monitors? You should considering xrandr detected them.
2. Is the monitor corresponding to the projector turned on? Usually
second/external monitors are off by default.
3. Is the resolution there set properly for the projector?
4. Are you using mirror setup? If you want different resolutions then
you should uncheck 'mirror screens' checkbox.
