To sivakumar,

Is your laptop a netbook ?(just curious)

When you say the camera isn't working do you mean that you've tried it with
some video conernecing software and it wasn't detected ? Ubuntu doesn't list
the webcam under Computer like windows does. So your webcam may be detected
and working.

If you haven't tried it with any software install the program 'cheese'. You
can see the webcam feed and take pictures and videos through that. If it
works then great although there may be some problems with video conferencing
applications(like skype).

If no webcam is detected by 'cheese' then your webcam may or may not be
getting detected. In that case get the output of the 'lspci' or 'lshw'
command and put them up on some forum site such as ubuntuforums.org and ask
for help.
